HARVARD - Shirley A. Streit, 66, of Harvard, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 1995, at St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
She was born May 15, 1928, in Harvard, the daughter of Carl and Edith (Haas) York. She married Francis "Fritz" Streit on May 24, 1947, in Harvard. He died Dec. 17, 1982.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard and the Harvard Women of the Moose.
She is survived by her mother, of Elkhorn, Wis.; a son, Steve (Judy) Streit of Harvard; two daughters, Cory Streit and Darla (Steve) Ferris, both of Harvard; five grandchildren, Todd (Kristi) Streit, Tyler (Lynette Schultz) Streit, Sommer Streit, Brady Ferris and Melissa Ferris, all of Harvard; a great-grandson, Matthew Streit; three sisters, Darlene (Jack) Layman of Poplar Grove, Lucille (Bob) Fletcher of Clearwater, Fla., and Lorraine Adams of Harvard; a brother, Charles (Peggy) York of Harvard; a brother-in-law, Marshall Salmon of Harvard; and a very dear friend, Leona Wagner of Harvard.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her father; a sister, Esther Salmon; and a brother Clifford York.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home in Harvard. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvard, the Rev. Roger Olson officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alden, Harvard, Hebron unit of the American Cancer Society.
