From The Alabama Beacon (at Greensboro, Alabama: Vol. XXI, No. 9, Saturday 24Feb1877, page 4, column 1):

"DEATH OF MR. O. A. WYNNE - Mr. O. A. WYNNE, one of Hale county's oldest and most highly respected citizens, died at his residence, in the Hollow Square neighborhood, on the 16th inst., after a short illness, aged, we learn, about 72 years.

"Mr. WYNNE moved to Greene county when quite a young man, and was employed as a clerk in a store in Greensboro in the year 1826, or '27. How long he continued in that capacity, we are not advised. For over forty years, coming down to the time of his death, he was engaged in planting, - in which he was very successful, having accumulated a handsome fortune.

"Our acquaintance with Mr. WYNNE was of near forty years' duration. - Agreeing politically during the entire time, our relations were especially cordial and friendly, - which afforded us a good opportunity to judge of his character. And we can most confidently bear testimony as to his sterling worth. - He was a most excellent citizen, - a man of great personal worth, - social in his disposition, - and personally very popular. We doubt, in fact, if he had an enemy.

"Mr. WYNNE was a Georgian by birth. He leaves three children and other relatives, also a large circle of friends, to mourn his death."
