Early Life: Jay was born May 18, 1950, in Payson, Utah, to Willard Butler and Allie Houston Butler. He grew up in Redwood City, California, graduating from Sequoia High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Jay served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1969 to 1971. He received a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 1976. While attending BYU, he met Marie Lee. They married in 1976 in Provo, Utah, and had two cherished daughters. Jay spent much of his life working for the State of Utah, primarily in the Department of Workforce Services. He retired in 2006 and spent his retirement enjoying his free time. Jay W. Butler passed away peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2017, in Provo, Utah.
Family Message: "His family and friends will especially miss his humor."
Survived By: His wife, Marie; his daughters: Amanda and Megan; and his brother, Claud.
