William is the son of Robert Darbro from Pennsylvania and an unknown mother (some claim his mother to be Nancy, possibly Nancy Yeager).
Williams father Robert came to Kentucky from Pennsylvania via a raft down the Ohio River around 1800. It is said that Robert was traveling with other Darbro family members as well as two of his brothers. His brothers didn’t care for Kentucky and returned to Pennsylvania leaving Robert behind to plant the family roots in Kentucky for generations to come.
William and Phoebe Ann Mulligan/Mullikin were married in Owen County, Kentucky on Jan 10th 1836.
Around 1848 William was working for a bridge gang in Kentucky where he fell to his death. He left his wife Phoebe with four smalll children. William’s death was the beginning of westward expansion for this family line.
Known Children:
William Henry Darbro (1839-1896)
Edward Greenberry Darbro (1846-1913)
Mary Elizabeth LISSIE Darbro (1843-1919)
Hugh Thomas Darbro (1847-1879)
