Melvalene C. Ishler July 13, 1931 August 24, 2017 Melvalene C. Ishler, 86, of Millheim, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at William Penn Nursing Center in Lewistown. Born July 13, 1931, in Stratford, Okla., Melvalene was a daughter of the late Melvin W. and Reva R. (Blaylock) Corban. On December 20, 1952, she married to Kenneth Ishler who preceded her in death on June 25, 2011. Melvalene was first employed at the former Laurelton State Center. She was best known for her position as a checkout cashier at the former IGA grocery and Burkholders, both in Millheim. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Coburn. She enjoyed going to the senior center, traveling with friends on bus trips, hot sausage sandwiches from the Grange Fair and especially shopping; she was an avid QVC shopper. Most of all, Melvalene enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Melvalene is survived by one daughter, Melissa A. Johnson (Mark), of Selinsgrove; one son, Gary K. Ishler (Brenda), of Reedsville; five grandchildren, Derek K. Ishler (Lauren), Shawn M. Ishler (Kayelar), Dylan P. Ishler, Corey A. Johnson and Evan B. Johnson. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Bentyn and Alexandra Ishler. In addition to her husband, Melvalene was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Corban. In accordance with her wishes, there are no public services. Melvalene will be laid to rest in Fairview West Cemetery in Millheim.
