Helena "Grace" Shunk, 93, of Grantsville, MD, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at her residence.

Born February 4, 1924, at Grantsville, she was the daughter of the late, Samuel & Emma (Kamp) Otto.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Blayne "Doc" Shunk, May 2, 2004; a daughter, Kathy Lorraine Shunk Shaffer, September 30, 2014; two sisters, Bernice Kenney & Eileen Merrill; three brothers, Lorraine Otto, Willard Otto and Odel Otto.

Mrs. Shunk was a lifelong homemaker, who welcomed everyone into her home. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she served in various positions over the years, including treasurer and Sunday School teacher.

Grace & "Doc" owned Sleeping Hollow Camp Grounds for many years. Many of the people who visited there became their lifelong friends.

Surviving are her three sons, Edward & Lois (Murray) Shunk & Donald Shunk & Patty Bittinger, all of Grantsville, Richard & Mary (Garlitz) Shunk, Salisbury, PA and a sister, Betty Jo Swauger, Grantsville.  She was a loving grandmother to Alice Meyer, Angie Shunk, Brett Shunk, Marc Shunk, Michael Shunk, Ryan Shunk and Tyler Shunk and also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller Street, Grantsville, MD, Friday, August 18, 2017, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Services will be conducted at Trinity United Church of Christ, Saturday, August 19, 2017, at 10:30 am with the Rev. Diane Smith and the Rev. Dr. Alexa Smith officiating.

Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

The family wishes to thank Margie Campbell for the love and care she gave Grace, "We will always be very grateful". They also would like to thank Garrett County Hospice for their help and support.
