Obituary for Dr. Theodore Winthrop Elle

Dr. Theodore Winthrop "Ted" Eller, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Homestead Memory Care Center in Knoxville.

Memorial Service for Ted will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, August 26th, 2017 at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville. Following services, Ted’s family would like to invite you to stay for desserts and refreshments.

Ted was born in Clarinda, Iowa on August 10, 1924; the son of Dr. Clyde and Myra (Graff) Eller. Ted graduated from Clarinda High School, where he met the love of his life, Caroline Lucille Saner. Following graduation, Ted and Caroline were married. They were blessed with seven children. Ted began his service in the military, during WWII. He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree at Creighton University in Omaha. Ted moved to Knoxville where he set up his dental practice in 1951 and served his patients for the next 43 years, before retiring in 1994.
Ted had lifelong dedication to community service and social justice.

Those left to cherish Ted’s memory are his children Dr. Ted Eller, Jr and wife Dian, Nancy Huss and husband Dale, John Eller and wife Nadene, Kate Nelson and husband Bill, Patty Zahm and husband Mike, and Lucy Giehl and husband Paul; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. Ted is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Clyde and Myra Eller; his wife Caroline Eller; and his son Mark Eller; two brothers and one sister.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in Ted’s name to The Grand Theatre Foundation or The Knoxville Heritage Foundation. The Winfield Funeral Home is assisting Ted’s family with services. Online condolences can be left at www.winfieldfh.com.
