Billy James Anderson, 73, of Tucumcari, NM died Monday, August 21, 2017 at his home. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, August 25, 2017 at St. Anne's Catholic Church with Father Hyginus Anuta officiating. Burial will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery in Tucumcari, NM. Joe Shallert, Larry Cooksey, Jack Huntly, Dale Hodges, Gabriel Pacheco, and Augustine Pacheco will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Billy was born May 27, 1944 in Majave, CA to Matthew H. Anderson and Nellie Mae Bradley Anderson. He married Gloria Lucero May 1, 1977 in Tucumcari, NM. Billy was a Sargent with NM Motor Transport Division for 25 years and Deputy Sheriff for Quay County for 10 years. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church and Veteran for the United States Army Medical Corps.
Survivors include: his wife; Gloria Anderson, three children; Matt Anderson of Houston, TX, Louise and husband Larry Marshall of Tucumcari, NM, and Steve and wife Brenda Benavidez of Portales, NM, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; M.H. Anderson and Nellie Mae Bradley.
