SIERRA VISTA — Maria “Val” Valentina Crew, 79, of Sierra Vista passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017.
Maria, the daughter of the late Jose Juan and Josefa (Pinedo) Arvizu was born in Douglas on Feb. 14, 1938. Maria has resided in Sierra Vista for the past 29 years.
She worked as a social worker at the Sierra Vista Domestic Crisis Shelter/Forgache House for several years.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Seward Benjamin Crew; daughter, Valerie A. Talkington; and sister, Rosie Kruger.
Maria is survived by seven sons, Harry Talkington (Heidi), Larry P. Talkington (Becky), Billy B. Talkington, John K. Talkington, Benny Crew, Richard Crew, and Martin Crew (Ana); daughter, Maria V. Crew; brother, Manuel Estrada; sister, Josie Lively; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service for Maria will be held on Aug. 23, 2017, at 4:30 p.m. at Hatfield Funeral Home, 830 S. Highway 92, Sierra Vista. A wake will be held following services at 6:00 p.m. at Gateway Studio Suites, 203 S. Garden Ave., Sierra Vista.
