Hilda Doreen (Dullam) Serr, of Camarillo, California, passed away peacefully at Pleasant Valley Hospital, in Camarillo, at approximately 8 AM on Monday, August 21, 2017, at the age of 98 years, 8 months, and 17 days.

Hilda entered this world in a farm house on the La Brea Ranch in Cahuenga (now Hollywood), California on December 5, 1918. She was the youngest daughter and 5th child born to John Ernest Dullam and Edith Gertrude (Fisher) Dullam, both of whom were English immigrants to the United States in 1904.

Her father dry-farmed a section of land for G. Allan Hancock, the southern border was Wilshire Boulevard on which the La Brea Tar Pits are now located. Later, the property was developed into the "Miracle Mile", Hancock Park, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Her father purchased 23.5 acres of land in West Los Angeles (The Palms area) at the corner of National and Sepulveda Boulevard.

Hilda attended Palms Elementary school, and graduated with the University High School class of 1935. She attended Willis Business College before starting her working career with Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, CA, where she was the secretary to the Vice President of Manufacturing.

With World Wad II raging in Europe, having worked for Douglas Aircraft for 8 1/2 years, Hilda entered into active service to her country by enlisting in the Women's Army Corps on March 29, 1944 at Los Angeles, CA. After completing basic training, she was assigned to work at the South Plains Army Airforce Base in Lubbock, TX in a secretarial capacity. She was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on December 16, 1945 at Camp Beale, Penn Valley, CA.

Hilda met her future husband, Paul Willis Serr, of Kennebec, South Dakota, before World War II on a weekend sailing trip to Santa Catalina Island with her Douglas Aircraft co-workers. Following the war, Hilda and Paul resumed their careers at Douglas Aircraft and were married on April 5, 1947 in Beverly Hills, CA. To this union were born three children: Steven Michael Serr; Donna Jean Serr; and Stanley Paul Serr. Hilda was widowed at age 37 on November 19, 1956, when her beloved Paul passed away suddenly from leukemia.

Hilda raised her young children in their home on East Guava St. in Oxnard, CA while working at Drifill Elementary schol, then later working for the Ventura County School District office. In 1978 she moved into Leisure Village retirement community located in Camarillo, CA and was a resident there at the time of her passing.

Hilda was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, having converted to the faith with her children in Oxnard, CA during the spring of 1960. She diligently served the Lord in the various callings she held. Hilda served as a worker for many years in the Los Angeles LDS temple. She was an active member of the Santa Rosa Ward, Camarillo Stake, at the time of her death.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: John Fisher Dullam; Gwendolyn Mae "Gwen" Foy; Gertrude Mary Dullam; and Thomas Frank Dullam, Sr.; her husband Paul Willis Serr; great-granddaughter Madelyn Jane Pykles; and great niece Kristin Ruth Dullam.
