Alexander S. Kountz

Niles - Alexander S. Kountz, 68, 204 Helen Ave., died at 8 p.m. Friday in Trumbull Memorial Hospital following an extended bout with emphysema.

He was born Dec. 28, 1914, in New York City, the son of Simon and Elizabeth Moritz Gagany. He came to Niles from New York when he was a child, and retired from his job as parts manager for Fleck Pontiac, Niles. He was an infantry veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. William McKinley American Legion Post 106 A member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1090.

Survivors include his wife, Mona Neese Kountz, whom he married 38 years ago; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Smith, Niles, and Mrs. Judith Glaser, Warren; one son, Alan Kountz, Springfield, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Santangelo, Niles; two brothers, Simon Gagany, Wheatland, Pa., and Charles Kountz, of Modesto, Cal.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Monday morning at Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home, where friends may call Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be at Niles Union Cemetery.
