Ardis served in The United States Army during World War II. He worked as a riverboat pilot and retired from Port Arthur Towing.
He is survived by his daughters; Jeanette Kennedy, Sandra Kennedy (Ricky), Debra Warren (George), Lynn Koestler; brothers, Don Barr (Vickie), Guy Barr, Jr. (Loura); sisters, Eddie Nichols, Polly Harvey; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Sue Barr.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Betty (Harvey) Barr; son, Kenny Barr; brothers, Joel Barr, Pat Barr; sister, Jean Hamblett; sisters-in-law, Esther Barr, Mary Barr; brothers-in-law, Herman Nichols, James Earl Harvey and Ralph Hamblett.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Tutor Funeral Home in Mendenhall, MS from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. in Tutor Chapel with interment following in Mendenhall City Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Tutor Funeral Home of Mendenhall.
