McCoy R. Wellons, Sr. passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017. He was born in Southampton County, Virginia to Ernest and Bonnie Mae (nee Gray) Wellons, Sr.

Elder McCoy humbly served God at Morgan Park Pentecostal Church under his beloved Pastor Fitz Barclay, Jr.

He served his country honorably with the United States Air Force.

Following service, he became a locomotive engineer with the E.J. & E. (Eastern, Joliet & Eastern) Railroad. He retired in 2009.

McCoy married Beverly E. McFarland when they were enrolled at Trinity International University.

He is survived by Beverly, a loving and caring wife; son, McCoy R. Wellons, Jr., daughters, Remayl Hardy, Michele (Donnell) Day, Nevia (Duane) Woods, Patrece (Billy) Myers and DeAndra Ransom; siblings, Phyllis Wellons, Katheran (Nicholas) Spratley, Bessie Seaborn; aunts, Marlene Warren, Gladys Warren and Lula Mae Lindsey; in-laws, Clifford W. (Lisa) McFarland, Kenneth R. McFarland, Lloyd B. McFarland; 28 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; special friend, Herb Lofton and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, sister and brother.
