Passed peacefully away on December 25, 2003 at Bonnews Lodge, Badger's Quay, Ewart Barefoot of Pool's Island, age 94 years. Predeceased by his wife, Minnie; parents, Ezra and Esther Barefoot; daughters, Alma and Cora; son, Barry; son-in-law, Snowden White; three grandchildren, Blaine, Carl and Lisa. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are four sons, Carl (Sadie) of St. John's, Leo (Sophie) of Pool's Island, Claude (Ada) of Glovertown, Eric of Thompson, Manitoba; four daughters, Elsie (Arthur Howell) of St. John's, Margaret (Roland Carter) of Pool's Island, Nina (Mike Cahill) of Manuels, Barbara (Terry Lomax) of New Brunswick; one brother, Jake (Triffie) of St. John's, one sister, Clarice Spurrell of Wesleyville; 27 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service was held on December 27th at St. James Anglican Church, Pool's Island with Rev. John Watton officiating. Interment followed from the Anglican Cemetery, Pool's Island. Donations in his memory may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.
