STEPHEN W. LYNN
Devoted husband, loving and adoring father to two amazing daughters, blessed grandfather of a wonderful granddaughter "Abba", baby brother to two sisters and friend to many, died at home and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 13, 2012.
Stephen W. Lynn was born June 23, 1950 to Joe and Helen Lynn in Carthage, Missouri. He attended Missouri Southern State University and graduated in 1972 with honors majoring in History. He then attended Law School at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Upon graduation he went into private practice. He was a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Missouri Bar Association and the Kansas City Bar Association. He was a soft spoken man who was passionate about his profession and compassionately and caringly represented his clients for 36 years.
Stephen was a true family man, devoting his energy and time to the happiness and care of his wife, children and granddaughter. He enjoyed pheasant hunting with his trusty Chaucer, Buttons and Cody, acting as Captain of his Bayfield sailboat the Abigail Frances, working in his vineyard and family vacations all over the world. His sense of humor was infectious, he was always ready to tell a story, and his kindness and patience unmatched. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, clients and colleagues.
Stephen married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Oexman on August 25, 1972 and they were blessed with 40 years of unbelievable marriage. Stephen and Pamela joined the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection when they were worshipping at Leawood Elementary and loved being a part of a growing congregation, being blessed by sermons of Adam and the music of Lance and the choir on Sunday evenings.
Stephen walked the battle with cancer courageously for the past four years without one word of complaining and going to his law office every day even on chemo days so he could be there for his clients. He always had a smile on his face and said each day was always good and he was fine.
We know he entered the Kingdom of God with a smile and a nod that he was a good and faithful servant. His family has big footsteps to follow.
Stephen is survived by his wife Pamela; daughter, Sarah Lynn Baltzell (Brian and daughter Abigail Frances); daughter, Rebekah Lynn; sister, Linda Gollhofer (David and sons Michael Gollhofer – wife and children and Patrick Gollhofer – wife and children); sister, Margaret Nadine Strain.
Stephen requested that there not be a memorial service, but everyone celebrate his life in their own special way. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Faith Ministries, 705 Virginia Avenue, Kansas City, MO, 64106.
