Jonesboro, Ga, February 17, - (Special) - W B Barton, one of the most prominent citizens of this county, died at his home at Morrow Tuesday morning and was buried at Tanner's church Wednesday. Mr Barton was for a number of years president of the county board of education.

William was the son of Thomas Howard Barton and Mary Berry. His siblings include Seleta, Mary Elizabeth, Yancey Meredith Thomas Berry, James Nelson, Riley and Robert Mariion Barton.
He married Narcissus V Chapman on 27 Mar 1856 in Clayton Co GA. They were the parents of 10 children who were Augustus F, Arthor, Mary Almena, John, William Benjamin, James Riley, Vollie H, Georgia V, Sallie and Jesse Barton.
William enlisted in the Confederate States Army in 1862 as a private in Co E, 30th GA Regiment. He was discharged 1865 in Jonesboro GA.
