Came to Woonsocket in 1842 and went into the grocery business. In 1847 he entered the mills and was superintendent for George C. Ballou for 30 years. Served 7 terms as member of the general assembly (1870-74, 1880-82), 5 terms in town council and was president once. Vice president of Citizens' National Bank and director in the Woonsocket Machine and Press Company.
