Richard Lewis Stalzle married Lila Lee Klinzman on July 11, 1953 at Trinity Methodist Church in Denver. They had two children, Susan Stalzle Ryan and Steven Stalzle. They had two grandchildren, Lee and Shanna Ryan. They lived in north Denver, and were active members of the North Highland Presbyterian Church. Richard retired from the Adams County School District 14 after a successful teaching career spanning more than 30 years. He taught social studies and civics at both the Jr. and Sr. High.
