Mr. Kenneth Lee Lawing, 82, of Hartsville, SC, died peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2017, after an extended illness. He was a son of the late F.F. and Nell Lawing.
He was born in Mt. Holly, NC on March 4, 1935. He graduated from Hartsville High School in 1953 and was president of the student body and captain of the football team. He was selected as a high school All-American and was co-captain of the 1953 Shrine Bowl team. He was also co-captain of the North/South game. Mr Lawing graduated from Davidson College with a BA degree in business administration where he a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He began his career with Proctor and Gamble in Maryland. In 1973 he moved to Fountain Inn, SC, to become the owner and CEO of RevKen Corporation. Mr. Lawing was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church in Hartsville, SC. He loved life, was compassionate, fair, and devoted to God, family and friends. He was a leader among leaders in everything he accomplished on earth.
Mr. Lawing was married to the late Martha Ann Gunter. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Doug) Williams of Delray Beach, FL, Susan (Bud) Everts of Los Gatos, CA; son, Kenneth (Maria) Lawing, Jr. of IL; sisters, Brenda L. (Robert) Beasley of Hartsville, SC, Judy Ann Lawing of Asheville, NC; brother, F.F. "John" (Judy) Lawing, Jr. of Tyler, TX; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Alice L. Walker; niece, Wanda Walker; nephew, Bobby Beasley.
A private service was held at Westview Memorial Park Cemetery directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
