Thomas Albert McManus, 65, of East Wareham, died suddently on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Tobey Hospital, Wareham. He was the beloved husband of 20 years to Maryanne (Bunker) McManus. He was born and raised in Middleboro; He was the son of the late Albert V. Jr. and Sylvia L. (Caswell) McManus.
Tom served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, was a graduate of Middleboro High School and Bridgewater University where he received his B.S. degree. He was a retired lieutenant at the Bridgewater Correctional Facility, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed cheering on all New England Team, especially the Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed genealogy, doing the Sunday crossword puzzle and reading, however, his greatest love was for his family. He could be seen traveling every weekend from hockey rinks to soccer fields to cheer on his grandkids. He was the happiest spending time with his family anytime he could.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Amy and her husband Benjamin Hempel of Plympton, Kaylee McManus of East Wareham; two brothers, James and his wife Anne McManus of Bridgewater, and Terry McManus of Middleboro; three sisters, Karen and her husband Fred Nolette of Taunton, Kathleen and her husband Robert Beals of West Bridgewater, Karyl and her husband John Hart of Middleboro; three grandchildren, Noah, Cole, and Taylor Hempel, all of Plympton. He was father of the late Thomas A. McManus Jr.
Visiting hours will be held in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St. Middleboro. Burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne MA.
