Oliver and John Edward were given to Herbert Baker's 1/2 sister Melissa McConnell McBride Patterson. Melissa was married to John L McBride at the time, but the boys were not adopted and given the McBride name until after John L. McBride passed away. Later Melissa married several times with Walter Patterson being the last.
