Roscoe D. “Rock” Frink, 66, of Elm Creek, Nebraska, died Monday, August 14, 2017, at his home in Elm Creek.

He was born September 12, 1950, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Donald Dean and Ruth (Chambers) Frink. He moved as a boy to Colorado for a time, where he graduated from Otis High School in Otis, Colorado. Following high school, he joined the United States Army where he served his Country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1972.

Rock was united in marriage to Vickie Gibbins on December 17, 1977, at the United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Shelley and Allan. He had two children from a previous marriage; Tammy and Leslie.

Upon his return to Nebraska, and after his marriage he worked for Don Thorell from Loomis, worked at various feedlots, and worked for CO-OP in Maywood, and then Lexington. His last job was working for Bill Area from Overton. It was at this time he became disabled from Agent Orange which he was exposed to during the war.

Rock was a wonderful, loving husband, dad, grandpa, and uncle. He loved being with the family, having big 4th of July BBQ’s, dancing, bull riding, telling jokes, watching John Wayne movies, fishing, hunting, and always had a pocket full of candy for the kids.

Rock was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 14, Kearney, and the American Legion, Post #94, Minden.

He never knew a stranger, he could talk the leg off of anyone who would listen, he was generous, kind, very patriotic, and always smiling. He was in charge of the DAV Float in local parades, and a tad bit ornery at times! His smile would light of the room. He will be so missed.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years; Vickie of Elm Creek, Nebraska; son, Allan (Shannon) of Overton, Nebraska; three daughters, Shelley (Rich) Shively of Overton, Nebraska, Tammy Frink of Bird City, Kansas, and Leslie Frink of St. Francis, Kansas; one sister, Donna (Bob) Prentice of Oconto, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren, Preston, Connor, Mason & Taylor Shively, Caleb & Christina Frink, and Alexis & Danielle Frink; one great-grandson, Brayden Frink; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Rock was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Teddy Eugene and Donald, Jr.

Funeral Services will be Friday, August 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Doug Gahn officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Overton Cemetery at Overton.
Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
