Benito Jimenez Anguino was born July 12, 1931 in Los Angeles, California. He joined the United States Army on August 5, 1948 and served until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1953. Benito served during the Korean War and was held in Cheonan, Korea as a prisoner of war from July 8, 1950 until August 28, 1953. He was honored for his sacrifice and service with an Army of Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, ten Bronze Service Stars, the UN Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. Shortly after his return home, Benito married the love of his life, the former, Virginia Ramirez, on November 22, 1953, and they began a long and happy marriage that spanned more than 63 years. Before his retirement, Benito was a regional manager for the Los Angeles County Waste Management. He loved the outdoors, especially while fishing or participating in building construction. Benito departed this life late Monday, August 14, 2017 at his home in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother, Sefarina Soliz, and a brother, Benjamin Soliz. Benito will be escorted by and carried to his place of rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery by the The Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry, the Patriot Guard Riders, and the Rolling Thunder. Committal service is scheduled at Fort Gibson National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Military Honors will be provided by the Fort Sill Funeral Honors Team.
