Evelyn LaRue Anderson passed away on August 13, 2017 at her home in Stevensville, MD. She was 91.
Born in New Freedom, PA on August 12, 1926 to the late Louis F. Griffith and May Frank Griffith, she attended Eastern High School, graduating class of 1945. On November 22, 1947, she married John Joseph “Jack” Anderson, III and they resided in Hamilton. She began working at Sun Life Insurance Company of America until retiring in 1988. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1983.
She belonged to Galilee Lutheran Church and often played ladies bingo at the Romancoke Fire Hall. She also enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Mrs. Anderson is survived daughter, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Anderson, two grandchildren, John W. Anderson (Ashley) and Jennifer M. Anderson (Roger Deffenbaugh), and great granddaughter Aubrey Madelyn Anderson. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by a son, Edward Anderson and a brother, Harry Griffith.
A service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11 am at Galilee Lutheran Church in Chester, MD. Visitations will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A in Chester, MD.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Compass Regional Hospice Center, 160 Coursevall Drive, Centreville, MD 21617.
