Kenneth Wayne Martin, 66, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and three children on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012. For 13 months, Ken battled mesothelioma with dignity and humor.

Ken, the son of Margaret Sanford Martin and Roland T. Martin, was born April 24, 1946, in Lewistown. He graduated from Fergus High School in 1965 and attended Eastern Montana College. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971 in San Diego, Calif. After serving in the Navy, he returned to Lewistown and worked at Golden Montana Company from 1972 through 1986. In 1986 he went to work for the Lewistown Public Schools and retired from there in 2011. While working at the school he developed many life-long friendships. Those friends continued to show their love and support for Ken until the day he passed.

Ken married Nicki Ruckman in 1972 and in 1977 they were blessed with twin sons, Jason and Justin. Ken was remarried in 1982 to Sherry Greer. Ken and Sherry were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Jessica, in 1989.

Ken started each day with a cup of coffee and the newspaper at the local coffee shops. He loved working in the yard, camping, visiting Yellowstone National Park, riding his four-wheeler, and all sports, especially Griz football. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sherry of Lewistown; his sons Jason (Tara) of Arizona and Justin of Lewistown; daughter Jessica of Lewistown; his grandson, Jaden (Jason and Tara), and his granddaughter, Sophie (Justin), and his faithful dog, Rusty. He is also survived by his brothers Terry (Doris) of Lewistown, Frank (Karon) of Lewistown, Roland, Jr. (Joann) of Florida, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
