OMAMA NEBRASKA-Donald D.Adams, 69, died Sunday January 29, 1995, at his home. He was born February 16, 1925, in Tremonton, Utah, a son of Basil H. and Retta Anderson Adams.

He Married Betty Rae Walker on May 31, 1944, in Riverside.Utah.

He was reared and educated in Tremonton, graduating from Bear River High School in 1942.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943, graduated from Cadet Flight School and was sent to Europe in 1944 where he flew P47 and P38 fighter aircraft for the remainder of World War II. In the 1950's and 60's he flew B47 and B52 jet bombers for the Strategic Air Command. As a Colonel he became the Wing Commander of the 7th Bomb Wing (B52's) at Carswell AFB,Texas. Following this command, he served with SAC headquarters at Offutt AFB in Bellvue, Nebraska. He retired in 1973, with 30 years service and the rank of Bird Colonel. His military education included Air Command and Staff School; and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. His higher education includes a B.S. Deegee from the University of Omaha (Nebraska) and a M.S. Degree in
Business Administration at George Washington University (Washington
D.C).

Following Air Force retirement, he worked for Firstier Bank of Omaha as Vice President of Governmental Relations. After several years he retired again and entered into private business.

He served as State Chairman of Nebraska U.S. Olympic Committee and continued as National Director of the Air Force Association.

He was elected County Commissioner of Sarpy County, Nebraska in January 1992, and served until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of Omaha,Nebraska, one son, Don Jr.(Cindy) Adams of Nebraska; one daughter, Pam Coilins Aurora, Colorado; one brother, Max (Mary) Adams, Tremonton, Utah and one sister, Faye Evans, Layton, Utah.

Special Memorial Services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1995, at 11 a.m. at Offutt AFB, Bellvue, Nebraska.

A Graveside service will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 2, 1995,at 11 am. in Tremonton, Utah, at the Riverview Cemetery.

Interment will follow the service.
