Funeral service for Charles DeWayne Anderson will be at 2:30 pm Sunday, August 13, 2017 in the First Baptist Church, Snyder with Rev. Les Banks, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Indiahoma officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Snyder under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
*The family will greet friends Saturday evening from 5pm until 7pm at the funeral home.*
Charles Dewayne Anderson, 78, Snyder passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home with his wife and children by his side. He was born April 26, 1939 in the Pleasant Valley Community, Southwest of Snyder to Charles Edward and Geraldine (Beason) Anderson. He was raised in the Pleasant Valley Community, and at the age of 12 was baptized at Boll Weevil Park, on the North Fork of the Red River. He graduated from Snyder High School in 1957. Charles married Mary A. Burk on November 24, 1960 in Frederick, OK. He went to work for Lone Star Gas in Amarillo before moving to Azle, TX where he worked for General Dynamics. They eventually moved back to Oklahoma where he went to work for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Reclamation for many years, and eventually Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. as a trucker, where he retired in 2000. Charles loved the outdoors, hunting, camping and taking family vacations. He enjoyed country music, playing his harmonica and whistling. For over 30 years he raised and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. But the light of his life was his grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them play sports and spending countless hours with them. He was a kind and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Charles is survived by his wife Mary of the home, son Marlon Anderson Yvonne of Snyder, daughter Karen Igo and Terry of Snyder, 4 grandchildren, Nicholas Igo of Snyder, Misty Kauk and Ryan of Burns Flat, OK, Nathan Igo and Saegen of Snyder and Marley Anderson of Snyder. Two step-grandchildren, Sonny Miller and Melissa of Graham, TX, Shane Little and Kandice of Lawton, and great grandchildren, Nicole, Hunter and Ayden Igo of Snyder, Casen, Caden and Cruz Kauk of Burns Flat, OK, Cooper and Cash Miller of Graham, TX and A.J. Little of Lawton. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Jim Anderson of Altus, OK, Jerry Don Anderson of Snyder and a sister Barbara Anderson of Pfafftown, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a great granddaughter Elizabeth Igo.
