March 13, 1851, the Plain Dealer gave a brief obituary noting that James C. Aiken, son of Rev. Samuel C. Aiken of Cleveland, had died at sea on board the barque Minnesota. Subsequent notices stated he died on January 22nd, having contracted Yellow Fever in Rio de Janeiro two days after departure. Captain Peacock relayed this information when they arrived at Philadelphia on March 12th.
