He was born on Aug. 22, 1934, in Grayson County, Va., to Bruce and Bertie Anderson Mabe.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Mabe; and leaves behind daughters, Donna Carter of Nashua, N.H., Brenda McLain of Tobaccoville, N.C., Linda Mabe of Rural Hall, N.C.; special son-in-law, David Caudill and Brandi Mabe of Fries, Va.; two grandchildren Jamie McLain and J.K. McLain; five great-grandchildren, Sean Brady, Alec Brady, Lexie McLain, Jadyn McLain and Nick Brooks.
He was a loving and faithful dad and was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church. He took comfort in knowing he had found our Lord Jesus Christ.
The funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Landmark Baptist Church with Dr. Ronny Harrison officiating. Burial followed in the Pugh Cemetery at Volney, Va.
The family received friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to Libby Johnson and Becky Sexton of the Blue Ridge Home Health and especially to John Laferty, RN and the staff of the Select Specialty Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C.
