Reburial services for Sgt. Irvin D. Carpenter, who was killed in Germany February 14, 1945, were held Wednesday afternoon April 20, at the Mabank Baptist Church.
The services were conducted by the Rev. John Duckett of Athens and interment was in the Mabank Cemetery.
Sgt. Carpenter was born at Mabank February 8, 1924. He attended school at Mabank and Kaufman and entered the Army February 18, 1943. He was assigned to the 346th Infantry, 87th Division, and was awarded the Bronze Star, Presidential Citation and Purple Heart for service in major engagements in France, Belgium and Germany.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.D. Carpenter of Mabank; two sisters, Mrs. Ocie Bell Claunch of Pamona, California, and Mrs. Beulah Dent of Mabank; four brothers, Claude, Clyde, William and Jesse Carpenter, all of Pleasant Grove, Dallas County.
