Brooks, 87, resident of Waxahachie for 52 years, died Thursday afternoon in a Lancaster nursing home where he had been a patient for three weeks. Funeral services will be held at the Rudolph Chapel of the Chimes at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Rogers McLane of Lancaster officiating. Burial will be in the Mabank Cemetery. Mr. Brooks lived at 214 Dunn Street and had owned and operated a grocery store for 45 years. He was born in Tupelo, Miss. In 1911 he married Miss Eddie Barron in Mabank. Mrs. Brooks died in 1963. Mr. Brooks was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and Waxahachie Masonic Lodge No. 90. Survivors include a son, Fletcher Lynn Brooks of Lancaster; five sisters, Mrs. Willie Daniels of Lancaster, Mrs. Claude Piper of Mineral Wells, and Mrs. Annie Burk, Mrs. Eva Lee Anderson, and Mrs. Lester Pippin, all of Mabank; two grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews, including C. S. Daniels and Mrs. Archie Hobson, both of Waxahachie.
