Lometa Bradley Ackley, a longtime resident of Dallas and Tyler, passed away on Oct. 25, 2008, in Dallas. Lometa was born June 13, 1913, in Eustace, Texas, to Frank and Rosa Bradley. She attended Trinity University where she met Hastings Ackley and they married in 1935. She was a member of First Christian Church of Tyler and was an avid world traveler, visiting over 100 countries. Many people loved her wonderful sense of humor and Lometa never met a stranger. Preceded in death by her husband, Hastings Ackley.

Survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth Ackley Hill and husband Allan, and Elaine Ackley, all of Dallas; sister, Rosemary Roper and husband Bill of Tyler; nephew and niece, Steve Roper of Tyler, and Carey Roper of Dallas; and several other nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, from 10 a.m.-noon at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, Dallas, with the graveside service following at 3 p.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank. If desired, memorials may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, 75219; or the charity of one's choice.
