Walter A. Albers, 85, of Okawville, IL, born Oct. 29, 1931 in Johannisburg Township, Washington County, IL, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Washington County Extended Care, Nashville, IL.

Walter was a retired farmer and also worked for Johannisburg Township for a while with his dad. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lively Grove; and the Washington County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed going to auctions, listening to polka music, and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dora, nee Wienstroer, Albers; five brothers, Ardell and Eugene Albers, and three in infancy; four sisters, Loretta Frederking, Dorothy Juenger, Judy Frederking, and Virginia Gaubatz.

Walter is survived by his wife, Viola A., nee Hundelt, Albers whom he married in Freeburg, IL on Nov. 20, 1957; three children, Wayne Albers of Okawville, IL, Brenda (Todd) Wempe of Germantown, IL, and Kevin (Melinda) Albers of Okawville, IL; seven grandchildren, Adam Budde, Michael (Annie) Strate, Zach Wempe, Erin (Ishmael) Harris, Amy (Brett) Schroeder, Kelly (Kyle) Koerkenmeier, and Tyler Albers; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte (Dan) Wombacher of Mascoutah, IL, and Sandra (Robert) Klein of Fairview Heights, IL; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses or to St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund. Condolences can be sent to the family at mollfuneralhome.com.

Visitation: visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 and 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Lively Grove, IL. A prayer service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017 at the church.

Funeral: a funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lively Grove with Father Tad Gegotek officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Lively Grove, IL.
