Jeannette VanWormer, age 94, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Hospice Northwest Ohio of Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo on June 24, 1917 to Alexis and Marie (Schuller) Aubry.
She was a graduate of Central Catholic High School Class of 1935. She attended the former Mary Manse College and Davis Business College.
In 1949, she married Robert J. VanWormer, Lt. Col. USAF. She loved traveling with her husband on his many Air Force assignments; each of their four children were born in different cities.
After her husband retired from the Air Force, she began working in 1966 at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center as an administrative secretary. Five years later she became secretary to the director of their former School of Nursing. In 1986 she retired but continued to serve as a volunteer at the hospital for 20 years. Jeannette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where her children attended grade school.
She is survived by her son, Robert Jr.; 3 daughters, Jean (James) Frey, Susan (Matthew) Prestler, both of Toledo, and Valerie (Lawrence) Cross of Atlanta; 5 grandchildren, Carolyn (Andy) Krisko, Theresa Frey MD, Michael (Katie) Frey, Lisa and Matthew Prestler; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Audrey. Also surviving is her sister, Miriam Grosjean.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents and 4 brothers, John, Frank, Kenneth and Harold Aubry.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Wednesday October 5, 2011 at the Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home 2426 N. Reynolds Rd. (between Central and Bancroft) 419-531-4424. Recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4227 Bellevue Rd., where friends and relatives will gather beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
