He married Lois Blood on 16 Mar 1749 and they had six known children together between the years 1750 and 1757. He died as a young father on March 12, 1757 in Massachusetts at the age of 31. He had left for Hawley after the birth of his youngest son Benjamin in 1757 and drowned trying to cross the Conn. River at age 31.
