June 2017 - Passage. The daughter of Edward and Minnie Sorensen, Marva Sorensen Christensen, along with her two sisters and a brother grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. A graduate of West High, she was involved in many clubs and organizations including being on the yearbook staff and participating in the choir.

She and her family had the opportunity to live in Copenhagen, Denmark from 1949-1952, while her father served as the LDS Mission President. She married Don Christensen April 10 1953 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. The marriage and sealing was performed by Pres. Harold B. Lee.

Making their home in Bountiful, Utah, there they raised their six children: Steve, Craig, Lynda, Jed, Jodi and Tina. Then in 1966 Marva, along with Don and their five children, returned to Denmark. Don was called to serve as the president over the Copenhagen Denmark mission from 1966-1969 and a second time 1986 for 6 months when the mission president became ill.

Spending time reading, golfing, skiing, going to the gym, bowling, boating, traveling, spending hours working on hundreds of puzzles while listening to her vinyl records top's Marva's passion. She had a deep interest in music, which included singing and playing the piano.

Her loved for the outdoors was exhibited by her beautiful flower gardens. Sitting on her front porch, she enjoyed the yard waiting for family and friends. There was never a dull moment when Marva was around for she had a fun personality, sense of humor and a zest for life.

Marva dedicated her life to selfless serving and leaves behind a legacy of helping other. She served on the Young Women's General Board, Stake Young Women's Presidency, a Young Women's leader, primary pianist and multiple missionary callings. She also volunteered at The Beehive House, This Is the Place Heritage Park, and the Church History Museum.

Besides her sister, Valeen Jensen, she was preceded in death eight months earlier by Don. Those left to mourn her death are a brother, Russ Sorensen, a sister, Laverle Christenson and her six children: Steve (Ronna) Christensen, Craig (LuJean) Christensen, Lynda (Jeff) Allen, Jed (Cindy) Christensen, Jodi (Mark) Faber, Tina (Mike) Eriksson, 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Services were held in in the Bountiful Mueller Park 5th War Chapel, 1320 East 1975 South, on Monday, July 17, 2017 with interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery. Directing the arrangements was Allen-Hall Mortuary, Logan, Utah.
