Mabel worked at the Nichols bank for over 20 years and then the Farmers National Bank in Rome until her retirement. She attended the Dille Parish United Church of Christ in Potterville, was a charter member of LeRaysville Chapter No. 498 Order of Eastern Star and a life member of the VFW Post No. 6824 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mabel was active in politics - voting for 50 continuous years - and supervised the Bradford County Republican headquarters office for a time. Mabel enjoyed sewing crazy quilts for the homeless, reading, gardening, doing word searches and crossword puzzles, and family vacations in Canada.
Surviving are her children, Faye L. Young and husband Ronald of Towaco, New Jersey, Debra S. Young of Oak Hill, Virginia, Dennis D. Manchester and wife Deborah of Arlington, Texas, and Richard F. Manchester and wife Stephanie of Rome; grandchildren, Renee Sparrow and husband Ian, Chad Young, Kristin and Erik Larson, Matthew Manchester, Adam Young, Bradley Rockwell, Kelsey Manchester Morariu and husband Michael, Kayla Manchester and fiancé Davin Taylor, and Austin Manchester; great-grandchildren, Gunner Larson, Ethan Sparrow, Ali Sparrow, Kara Young, Brayden Young, and Harper Young; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
In addition to her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Manchester, on March 18, 1991; sisters, Carolyn Donnelly and husband Nathan "Mickie" Donnelly, Bernadine Bushkirk and husband Sam, and Marjorie Cornell and husband Fred; brothers, Robert Bean and wife Lois, and Francis Bean and wife Pauline; brothers-in-law, Leslie Manchester and wife Lucille, and Leon Manchester and wife Muriel; and sisters-in-law, Madeline Allis and husband Paul and Nelsie Boardman and husband Donald.
A private graveside service will be held at Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda.
