Walter Berkley Southern, 80, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Anne Penn Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Canham officiating. Interment will follow in Aaron's Corner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Lawsonville.
Mr. Southern was born July 14, 1937, in Stokes County, to the late John Henry Southern and Josie Bullins Southern. He was a retire farmer.
In addition to his parents, Berkley was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Louise Southern, Henry Jay Southern; brothers, John Ray, Gordon, Dane, Hall and Raymond Southern and sisters, Laura Mae Bowlin and Dare Dickerson.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mae Bullins Southern; sons and daughter-in-laws, Walter and Robin, Jessie, Jimmy and Mary, Rocky and Michelle Southern; sisters, Bessie Grogan (Frank), Hazel Craddock (Carl) and 18 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8, Saturday at Colonial Funeral Home and other times at 185 Lula Rd, Stokesdale, NC.
