Mr. Charles W. Warterfield, Sr. died on Monday, June 21, 1965 at Vanderbilt Hospital of a heart ailment. He was vice president in charge of business development for First American National Bank since 1951. He served as the first city manager of the City of Belle Meade and was a member and past chairman of the board of West End United Methodist Church. He served as treasurer of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce in 1960 & 61, was a former president of Belle Meade Country Club, Cumberland Club, Vanderbilt Quarterback Club, director of the Nashville YMCA and board member of the local American Red Cross chapter.
A native of Union City, TN, he was the son of the late Virginia Sullivan Warterfield and William McKendree Warterfield. He attended public schools in Union City, Wallace School in Nashville and the University of the South and Vanderbilt University. He married Thelma Montgomery in 1925. He is survived by his wife; daughter Mrs. Patricia Warterfield Perkins of Nashville; son Charles W. Waterfield, Jr. of Nashville; sister Mrs. Frank Hudgens of Union City; and by four grandchildren.
