Hannah was the daughter of John Frederick Womeldorf (1790-1854) and Barbara (Bierly) Womeldorf (1796-1852), both natives of Pennsylvania who settled in Stephenson County, Illinois. (Both the Womeldorf/Womelsdorf and Bierly families originated in Germany.)
Hannah married Oratia "Horatio" Nelson Ballenger in Stephenson County, Illinois, on May 21, 1844. They had the following known children:
Aaron "Hiram" Ballenger 1846-1902
Aquillan Nelson Ballenger 1847-1930
Amanda B. Ballenger 1849-
Millard Fillmore Ballenger 1851-1927
In the 1850 census of Clarno, Green County, Wisconsin, Oratio and Hannah Ballenger and 3 children were living next door to his parents, Asa and Amanda Ballenger:
Oratio N. Ballenger 33, farmer, born Ohio
Hannah Ballenger 31, born Pennsylvania
Hiram Ballenger 4, born Illinois
Aquilla Ballenger 2, born Illinois
Amanda B. Ballenger 1, born Illinois
Since daughter Amanda was born in Illinois and was only 1 year of age in this census, the Ballengers had apparently just come to Wisconsin in about 1850. However, they apparently did not stay for long in Wisconsin because Oratio reportedly died back in Illinois in 1852. Oratio was only 35.
On November 2, 1859 in Stephenson County, Illinois, Hannah married Seba White (1800-1870), son of Lois and George Chapman White. Seba had previous been married to Sarah Lower (1804-1850), with no known children.
In the 1870 census, Hannah and Seba White were living with Hannah's son Aquilla Ballenger in Salt River Township of Schuyler County, Missouri, Post Office Lancaster. Two of Hannah's sons, Aquilla and Millard had married sisters in Schuyler County, Missouri, Lucinda and Hannah Dykes. All were living together in this census, as well as Hannah's son Aaron:
Aquilla Ballinger 21, farmer, born Illinois
Lucinda Ballinger 17, born Missouri
Aaron Ballinger 24, born Illinois
Millard F. Ballinger 19, farmer, born Illinois
Hannah J. Ballinger 20, born Missouri
Hannah White 52, born Pennsylvania
Seba White 70, born New York
Seba White is believed to have died in 1870 in Schuyler County, Missouri. His burial location is presently unknown.
At some point, Hannah apparently returned to Stephenson County, Illinois, as reportedly she died there in 1900 and was buried in this cemetery. However, there is another Hannah White buried in this cemetery with the dates of 1822-1902, so Hannah (Womeldorf) Ballegner White may have been confused with this other Hannah, and this may not be the correct burial place for Hannah (Womeldorf). (The other Hannah was married to a George White.)
