Mae was the daughter of Harvey Delfert Senff and Laura May Leeper, who married circa 1909. I found a dozen children for the couple—Lomeda Grace (1910 – 1986), Lucille M. (1913 – 1978), Arlena Loretta (16 May 1916 – 3 Aug 1984), Mae Elizabeth (27 Jan 1918 – 21 Apr 2002), Delbert A. (2 Dec 1919 – 12 Apr 2006), Vera Belle (8 Oct 1921 – 22 Oct 2013), Russell Berdel (31 May 1923 – 20 Apr 2015), Doris Ellen (27 Jul 1925 – 28 Nov 2005), Thelma Gene (b. 31 May 1927), Robert Merle (30 Mar 1929 - 2011), Bonnie Ellouise (sp?) (b. 19 Mar 1931), and Eldon Devere (1 Oct 1932 – 13 Mar 2004).

I found the family on the 1920 Census, living on W. Randolph St. in Locke Township, Elkhart Co., Indiana. Harvey Senff, aged 30, was noted as a “burning shaper” (?). Laura, aged 31, was busy at home with their four children—Lucille, aged 6, Arlena, aged 3, May, aged 2, and Delbert, aged 1 month. Eldest child Lomeda, aged 9, was enumerated in Bremen, Marshall Co., Indiana with her maternal grandparents Albert and Sarah Leeper.

The 1930 Census placed the family in Bourbon, Marshall County. Harvey Senff (Sniff on the record), aged 40, was noted as a farmer. Laura, aged 41, was keeping house. There with their parents were nine of the children—Lucille, aged 16, Arlena, aged 13, May, aged 12, Delbert, aged 10, Vera, aged 8, Russell, aged 6, Doris, aged 4, Thelma, aged 2, and Robert, aged 1. Bonnie would join the family the following year, followed by Eldon the year after that.

Circa 1938, Mae married Orville Robert Anders. Orville was the son of George Washington Anders and Mary Annabelle Zehrung. I found names for six children for Mae and Orville—Beverly Ann, Marcia, Nancy, Richard, Duane and Max.

The 1940 Census placed the family in Buchanan, Berrien Co., Michigan. Orville, aged 25, was farming. Mae, aged 22, was home with their two young daughters—Beverly, aged 1, and Marcia, aged 11 months.

Orville died fairly young at age 56 on 26 Jul 1971. His wife Mae married twice more. Her second marriage was to Oliver Dwain Amones on 7 Dec 1975 in Plymouth, Marshall County. Sadly, Dwain died four years later in 1979 at age 66. Her third marriage was to Charlie Leroy Twaddle on 28 Jun 1981 in Inwood, Marshall County. Mae lived to aged 84, passing into the light on 21 Apr 2002, and the children had her laid to rest next to Orville.
