Pioneer Banker of Iowa, he was an executive with the First National Bank of Manning. The son of Orson B. and Lydia (Chapman) Dutton of Illinois, with his father he established the first bank in the City of Nevada in Story County, Iowa, in 1870. He was the first cashier and a member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of Manning in Carroll County, Iowa, when it opened in 1886. Husband of Emma F. Dutton, they came to California in 1909.
