MRS. JANE WREN

Mrs. Jane Wren was born Mar. 1, 1835 and died August 16, 1911, bringing beautifully to a close a long life noted for its Christian faith and gracious charity. For many years her name has been known to young and old in the country where she dwelt, and her sweet, womanly presence left its abiding influence upon the lives of the community.

She married Benjamin H. Wren on March 18, 1852. A happy married life ended in the tragic death of her husband, and left her to bear the heavy burden of widowhood and the care and support of her children. For forty five years a widow, her life represented a struggle with hardship and difficulties such as few women have known. Courage and unshaken faith in God carried her through the mighty battle but left her, when her children were grown, an invalid.

Beautiful was the care and love of these children for their mother. Because she had carried them in their youth and weakness, they gave their lives to her and did all in their power to make her resting time from worry and care. When she passed away with her children standing at her bedside, she had the right to boast that she had fought a good fight.

Two sons and one daughter remain, to reproduce in their lives the grace and beauty of hers. These children and a multitude of friends laid her gently to rest in the cemetery near the church where she worshipped. All felt that no one slept in the dust around her who was better fitted for that resurrection hour when all who are in their graves shall hear the voice of God and come forth.
