Jacqueline O. “Jackie” Hunter, 80, of Green Cove Springs, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka following an extended illness. She had been a life-long resident of Green Cove Springs and was a homemaker. She was active in the community through her church. She was a charter member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs and served on the Benevolence Committee. She was a former longtime member of Decoy Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs where she served as Treasurer for many years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and decorating wedding cakes, and taking care of family and friends. She will always be remembered because, “To live in the hearts of the ones you leave behind is to never die.”

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years; Eldridge H. Hunter; her father, Robert E. Brooks; her mother, Lucille Stanley; her step-father, Robert L. Stanley; a son, Alden Emanuel Hunter; a granddaughter, Jessica Hunter; and a sister, Gladys “Charlie” Brooks.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Melba and Mike Todd of Green Cove Springs; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Daphne Hunter of Georgia; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert E. “Bob” and Elaine Brooks of South Carolina; two grandchildren and spouses, Josh and Jenny Hunter of Green Cove Springs, and Randy Lewis and Brittany Hunter of Middleburg; and four great grandchildren, Jaden Hunter, Caleb Hunter, Kayla Hunter, and Claire Hunter.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Joey Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Decoy Cemetery in Green Cove Springs.
