Died in this village (Hubbardston), of rheumiatism, Tuesday August 9th, Mr. George W. Townsend, aged 68 years, 2 months and 18 days. He was born in the state of New York, May 21st, 1824.
He married Mary J. Gibbs of Philadelphia, N. Y., July 19th, 1846, who died June 9th, 1889.
The family consisted of two children, one son and one daughter of whom Mrs. James Holbrook died May 10th, 1882 and Loren W., who died April 3rd 1891. Mr. Townsend was an old resident of this place having lived here since 1863. One brother and two sisters represent the remaining members of his father's family, also three grandchildren to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held at the family residence Thursday, Rev. L. M. Garlick officiating.
