As far as I can tell , he is buried here as an unknown soldier .Originally buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis . Many of the coffins were identified with chalk , and heavy rain washed the marking away , so they were reburied in this cemetery as unknown soldiers , and the list of lost names was recorded. Served as a Private in Company G of the 7th Kentucky Infantry . Died of disease in the Jackson Black General hospital in Memphis , Tennessee .
His son , James L. Sanders , also served in Company G.
