Norma Mae Blaisdell-Baack, 90, lifelong Mapleton resident, entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington.

A Celebration of Norma’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the United Church of Mapleton with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Union Cemetery. Please share a memory of Norma with her family online at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Norma was born October 14, 1926 in Storm Lake, IA to William Fredrick and Wanda Leona (Berkler) Webb. She graduated as valedictorian from Mapleton High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Everett “Beaner” Blaisdell on April 10, 1945 in Mankato. She helped Beaner on the farm for many years before later earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Mankato State University. A gifted seamstress, cook, and teacher, she taught Home Economics in Waldorf for over 20 years and was also the first lady school bus driver in Minnesota. On September 1, 1994, she married LeRoy “Buster” Baack.

Norma was generous, wise, classy, and creative. Whether it was sewing, quilting, crewel work, or cooking, Norma’s hands were never idle. She taught her family the importance of managing money and eating a healthy diet. Norma’s welcoming and loving nature was appreciated by everyone she knew. She was a longtime member of the United Church, 4-H, Sertoma Club, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Arlyn) Grussing of Bloomington; grandchildren, Dan (Trinh Hong) Grussing of Irvine, CA, Ginna (Roberto Fonts) Grussing of Bloomington, David (Beth) Grussing of Victoria, and Brian Grussing of Bloomington; great-granddaughters, Ruby, Maren, Addie, and Charley; brother, Bill (Carol) Webb of Lake Crystal; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Beaner, in 1989; and her second husband, Buster, in 2015.
