Preceded in death by husband of 48 years, Gene Curtis; best friend of the past 12 years Lloyd “Doc” Giles; parents, Charlie and Lena Myrble Frank; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and King Berrong; and brother-in-law Dick Calhoun.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Susan Curtis and beloved grandchildren, Brianna Grace and Andrew Curtis of Vonore, Tennessee. She is also survived by her sister, Alice Frank Calhoun and several nieces and nephews. Lloyd's family, Alan, Susie and Wes Giles, were also special to Gracie.
Gracie was born December 25, 1931 and grew up in Vonore, Tennessee. She attended nurses training at Ft. Sanders and worked as a registered nurse at Blount Memorial for 35 years. She retired in 1995 and started her next life chapter as “Nana.” She spent her retirement years enjoying time with her family, especially her grand twins. She was a member of Vonore Baptist Church and was a great friend to so many in her hometown.
Funeral 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Biereley-Hale Chapel with the Reverend Robert D. Moore officiating. Interment 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 20, 2017 in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Monroe County Friends of Animals or a charity of your choice.
