His mother, Agnes Koch died when he was only five years old. For some unknown reason it appears that Raymond was raised by Aaron and Lydia Behler. That's who he was living with in 1900, according the that years census. What the Behlers relationship to Raymond's father, Albert Koch is unknown, Albert Koch remarried. He must have been close to the Behlers because that's who he is buried next to.
Raymond was an army veteran of W.W.1 serving in Company A of the 4th infantry, 3rd division. He enlisted on August 27 1917 and was honorably discharged on December 15 1919. He rose to the rank of 1st lieutenant. He was a purple heart recipient. After the war he was a security officer.
He died in the VA hospital in South Lebanon PA from Inanition(4 months) due to hemiplegia(paralysis of the entire right side of his body, 6 months) due to cerebral arteriosclerosis (2 years) he also suffered from diabetes mellitus for 15 years. He was in the hospital for 5 and a half months.
He was never married.
