William Ray “Bill” Jones, passed away September 20, 2012 at the Wellsville Retirement Community, Wellsville, KS. Funeral Services were held Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS 913-856-7111, with burial at Gardner Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Wellsville Retirement Community.

Bill was born September 13, 1935 in Leavenworth, KS to Elmer Francis and Mariam Jane (Newman) Jones. Bill married Hazel Marie Raybern on October 4, 1952 in Atchison, KS. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bill was a truck driver for over 40 years retiring in 2000. They moved to Gardner in 1976 then to Spring Hill in 2008. He was a member of the Teamsters Local#41 of KCMO. Bill loved visiting with his family and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel in 2008; his parents; son John Rhodes; and siblings Willard, Herman, Clyde, Lorene and Virginia. Bill is survived by his son Dennis Jones and wife Dianna of Olathe, KS; daughter Karen Newcome and husband Bill of Spring Hill; sisters Ruth Oxley of Mescotah, KS, Betty Perkins of Round Rock, TX and Leona Jones of KCK; ten grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
